Detailed Description of Services

Document Preparation
Get your documents "scan ready". Scan ready means that all staples and other fasteners have been removed from the file documents and the pages are separated without excessive wrinkles. Documents must also not be torn or otherwise damaged that would interfere with the scanning process. If the pages are of odd or mixed sizes (receipts post it notes, etc.), extra charges may apply for special handling.

Straight Scanning
The offering on scanning documents presented to a lab with the files identified and directions for indexing as well as how capture the image (i.e. in what format) can be called straight scanning. This is simple straightforward work that requires little to no preparation and set-up time and can be accomplished by production workers acting independently. This work is generally given to a lab by a customer who is currently using electronic filing and needs the manpower of a production shop to supplement their own staff and equipment. Pricing can range from 10 cents per page for very high volumes to 21 cents per page for shorter runs.

Solution Scanning
The offering that takes information in hard copy from a customer and determines how the information should be put in what folders, indexed and determine how retrieval will take place. Requires more attention and will command a hire price. This type of work is called Solution Scanning, as the Lab and its workers will provide expertise not available to the customer. Work of this type is generally fixed priced but for purposes of modeling you can count on pricing in the 50 cents to 75 cents price range.

Redacting
Redacting takes documents that require portions of that information to be non-viewable for privacy or security reasons. This offering electronically blacks out selected information such as social security numbers, phone numbers, home address, etc.

Bates Numbering
The offering that electronically assigns a range of Bates numbers to legal documents for identification purposes.
